The Pioneer Club: 0 to 100 in one venue

Tucked away in the middle of Bernards Heath is the Pioneer club, a youth and community charity offering a safe haven for skate, music, dance and the arts. As well as housing the UK’s oldest indoor skatepark, the Club is an iconic music venue for legends past and future.

The team are hosting events for ages 0 up, and offer venue hire too for bingo nights, birthday parties and more. The new cafe offers a warm space for guardians wanting to grab a hot cuppa and clear the inbox while waiting for skate lessons to end.

Battlefields as Assets of Community Value (ACVs)

Local historian, Peter Burley, has recently published an account of ‘Battlefields as Assets of Community Value (ACVs)’ in the Battlefield Magazine. You may well ask what is an ACV? , well the answer to this appears in the article, a copy of which is shown below with particular reference to the second Battle of St Albans, 1461 on Bernards Heath.

The text is not easy to read in the copy below, so this is reproduced in the pdf document here. The copy depicts a scene from the Battle, painted by Graham Turner.
