Action Days
These days are generally well supported and we held them in April and November. This, and work by users of the Heath helped to keep it largely clear of litter.

Detective work
Old pictures of the Heath are difficult to find. This view held at St Albans M+ G is now thought to be towards Sandbridgebury. Thanks PB

Re-wilding
Attempts to re-wild parts of Sandridge Road Wastes by not cutting grass were not successful.

Illegal Camping
It proved very difficult to enforce the removal of campers. No agency, council, police etc. seems keen/able to do this. Lack of toilets and litter are a problem.

Windy Weather
… has taken its toll on several trees on the Heath and unfortunately this large Norway Maple on the Upper Field had to be felled completely.

Resurfacing Paths
Some paths became very muddy this autumn and have been resurfaced with road planings. The cost was shared by the Council and FoBH, but more needs to be done.

2023 Weather
has has been disappointing especially in July and August, but generally mild. 2023 was the wettest year in the 10 years since measurements began.

Play Area
Really great money raising by ‘Lets Play on Bernards Heath’ has enabled many improvements to be made. It is hoped that it can be opened soon.
